1669-06-11[June 11, 1669] At a general town meeting legally warned by the Inhabitants of Beverly it is agreed upon that Mr. John Hale shall have, hold & enjoy that parcel of land lying within the general fence of the field adjoining unto his pasture which he bought of Wm. Dodge, sen. And for him & his heirs forever he maintaining the side fence lying against the Commons without the field. It is also agreed upon at the said meeting that Capt. Lathrop, Humphrey Woodberry sen. And th John Hill Constable are desired to treat with the honored court to be held at Salem June 29 concerning the condition of Joshua Farland. It is also ordered this present time by a general vote that no man shall fall any timber in the Commons without order except it be for his own use but he shall pay the value of twenty shillings for each tree to him or them that are deputed to receive it for the public good of the place.
