3:11: ’86. At a meeting of the Selectmen there was a rate made amounting unto 10 li: 00s:
02d. to be gathered in money for the defraying of the Town of Beverly’s debts & charges viz. To pay
for the bell and glass and other charges about the Meetinghouse and other town debts & said 10 li:
00s: 02d was to be paid unto said Selectmen for to improve it to that purpose and necessary uses for
said Town of Beverly which said rate was committed unto Thomas Gage then Constable of Beverly
in Bass River ward to gather and pay as abovesaid.
At the same meeting of the Selectmen there was another rate made amounting unto 9 li: 01s:
02d. to be gathered in money and said rate was committed to Edmund Gale then Constable to collect
& gather and to pay said money unto said Selectmen to pay for the bell & glass and other charges
about Beverly Meetinghouse and other town debts Edmund Gale being Constable of Mackerel Cove
ward, Town of Beverly.
