The primary responsibilities of the Audit Committee shall be to advise the City Council on the selection of an independent auditor and to oversee the 86 independent audit of the City's financial statements required by Section 6-9 of the Beverly Home Rule Charter. The persons appointed by the City Council President shall, by education, experience and training, possess the skills needed to understand the audit process and to understand and communicate any issues raised by the annual independent audit. The persons appointed by the City council President shall serve at the pleasure of the City council.
