Beverly Council on Aging Advisory Board Minutes
Date: June 28, 2022
Place: BCOA and Senior Center, Colon St, Beverly
Members Present: Bob Hobbs, Blair Smith, Cynthia Montalbano, Jessica Wistran Esquire,
Susan Feeney, Rich Tabbut, Stephanie Tallo

Meeting Called to order: 2:35 pm
Secretary's Report: Minutes were accepted, with no updates/changes
Director's Report
Administrative and Finance
Financials were not provided at this meeting, as there were still in/out payments pending, and
financials were reviewed at the meeting earlier in June
Building Concerns and Usage
Carpeting for the lobby and upstairs hallway were installed. There is minimum visibility of a
line where the old and new carpeting meet
Programs and Events
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day at City Hall was attended by staff Victoria Guskiewicz,
MaryAnn Holak, and board member Rich Tabbut
Last Walk in the Woods occurred at Lynch Park, and"people loved it." It was reported as a
"beautiful day."
Denise Doucette's music performance scheduled for June 23rd had to cancel due to Covid.
Senior Day in the Park planning continues. There are many areas of planning still in need of
assistance.
A menu of sub sandwiches had been decided upon at$9.95 each, with pasta salad, chips and a
water bottle. The mayor has offered an alternate option,potentially to be determined of hot dogs
and hamburgers. This would potentially involve the need for compostable plates/cutlery as well
as grills provided by the caterer. This remains to be determined,but MaryAnn expects to hear
later this day.
Personnel updates
A new program position was approved for an Activities and Outreach Assistant
There have been two interviews to date for the Activities Coordinator position. One of the
candidates withdrew her application. There are two more interviews coming up.

The title for Marjorie O'Brien's position of receptionist has been given a new title of Front Desk
Coordinator and was changed form a grade 7 to 9 position
Marjorie's retirement reception is on schedule for June 2611 at 1:30 p.m.
Lynne Depiero's former position as Senior Clerk has also been upgraded to a grade 12 as well
and given a new title of Administrative Assistant II
Lynne Depiero, it was noted, was a very sad loss for the COA as she was the"best team player"
Bill Burke has been acting Transportation Coordinator,this position remains posted
It was announced that for two weeks in June there had been changes to the transportation
schedule due to staff being out
Unfinished Business
Dining room A/C still remains unrepaired, but remains in the capital budget
The topic of Senior Day in the Park was revisited noting the possibility that Suzanne Lanzikos,
the event planner for the Carriage House at Lynch Park,may assist in some capacity.
The Beverly Rotary Club will provide the Ice Cream again, in honor of former BCOA and
Senior Center board chairperson, Brad Gaige. The Rotary has sent the check to purchase the Ice
Cream
It remains undetermined the total number of volunteers that will be available to assist with
Senior Day in the Park.
New Business
The slate of candidates for the FY '23 officers for the board were presented and put to a vote
The nominations were unanimous, and voting resulted an unanimous election of:
- Blair Smith, Chair
- Stephanie Tallo, Vice Chair
- Rich Tabbut, Secretary
Cynthia Montalbano was recognized for her many years serving as secretary, and her excellent
and appreciated contribution of taking meeting minutes
Awards Committee
There was a vote on Senior of the Year by confidential ballot
Grant Committee
There was one grant approved for an air conditioner
There was one grant approved for a YMCA membership

Announcements
Jessica Wistran, board member shared that she would be unable to attend Senior Day in the Park
this year.
The next meeting will be August 2, 2022 at 2:30 to focus on planning for Senior Day in the Park
