2020 12 09 School Committee Minutes the binders in the office. They will start to put them on the regular agendas for review and schedule a Policy Review Committee meeting. Communications (BevCam 1:33:56) Ms. Visnick reported receiving constituent concerns around the increase in cases with some people not happy about the holiday pivot and some people who are elated. She noted receiving a tremendous amount of communications about the open position/seat on the School Committee and also, because she represents Ward 6, received a ton of communications with regards to the open seat on City Council. Ms. Visnick received some feedback from the City Council's conversation at their last meeting, should they be voted a pay raise, which would include School Committee members, or not. Ms. Visnick noted that there are members of the public paying attention to that. She reported, at the Citywide PTO meeting, they commented that they were blessed to have Dr. Morgan as their guest speaker and they are looking at ways to get the word out about his position. They would like to help with a series of videos, made at the different school levels. Ms. Abell noted she received similar communications and she continues to receive communications, despite the uptick in cases, about when we can get our students back in the building more, especially at the 5th and 6th grade level. Executive Session (BevCam 1:37:27) The Chair made a motion to convene in executive session pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A section 21(a) for the following purposes: Purpose (7)to review and approve minutes from the following executive session meeting of the Beverly School Committee: October 28, 2020 and November 18, 2020. Purpose (3): to discuss strategy with respect to and in preparation for collective bargaining with the Teachers- Unit A and AFSCME Units because an open discussion may have a detrimental effect on the bargaining position of the Committee and not to return to open session.
