January 3, 2000
A special meeting of the Beverly School Committee was held on Monday, January 3, 2000,
at the Ayers Ryal Side Elementary School, Beverly, MA, for the purpose of organizing the
2000 School Committee.
Members Present:, Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Brusil, Mr. Cahill, Mrs. Coburn,
Mr. McHugh, Mrs. Norris and Mayor Scanlon.
Members Absent: None
Also in Attendance: William Lupini, Superimendent of Schools,
Judy DeLucia, Assistant Superintendent,
James Hayes, Assistant Superintendent, and
Judy Mulligan, School Business Manager.
Superintendent William Lupini called:the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.
Election of Officers For 2000
Mr. Lupini declared nominations open for the office of President.
Mr. McHugh nominated Mr. Cahill. Nomination seconded.
It was moved by Mr. McHugh and seconded to declare nominations closed. So voted.
A roll call vote resulted in the following:
YES: Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Brusil, Mrs. Coburn, Mr. McHugh, Mrs. Norris,
Mayor ScanIon and Mr. Cahill.
NO: None
The vote was unanimous. Mr. Cahill was declared elected President.
Mr. Lupini turned the proceedings over to Mr. Cahill.
President Cahill declared nominations open for the office of Vice-President.
Mr. McHugh nominated Mrs. Brusil. Nomination seconded.
It was moved by Mrs. Coburn and seconded to declare nominations closed. So voted.
A roll call vote resulted in the following:
YES: Mrs. Brusil, Mrs. Coburn, Mr. McHugh, Mrs. Norris,
Mayor Scanlon, Mrs. Bell and Mr. Cahill.

NO: None
The vote was unanimous and Mrs. Brusil was declared elected Vice President.
President Cahill declared nominations open for the office of Secretary.
Mrs. Coburn nominated Mrs. Norris. Nomination seconded.
It was moved by Mr. McHugh and seconded to declare nominations closed. So voted.
A roll call vote resulted in the following:
Mrs. Coburn, Mr. McHugh, Mrs. Norris, Mayor ScanIon,
Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Brusil and Mr. Cahill.
NO: None
The vote was unanimous and Mrs. Norris was declared elected Secretary.
President Cahill announced his pleasure that Superintendent Lupini is officially back
from his leave of absence, and thanked Dr. Jim Hayes for serving as Acting
Superintendent the past two months. He also thanked Dr. Judy DeLucia and Mrs.
Mulligan for their assistance during this time.
The School Committee Orientation will be held on Saturday January 8, 2000 from
9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Tupper Hall, Endicott College.
Mr. Cahill announced the following committee assignments, adding that citizen advisors
will be appointed at a later time.
