Lindsay Diehl presided.
Kevin O’Reilly made the motion, seconded by Helga Senko, to accept the minutes of the Finance
Committee of March 26, 2002 as read. Motion passed.
Edward Brindle made the motion, seconded by Joanne Avallon, to accept the minutes of the
Special Budget Meeting of April 9, 2002 as read. Motion passed.
The minutes of the March 26, 2002 meeting were changed from “He is to use care in
photographing the painting” to “He is to use due care in photographing the painting.”(Under
communications, item one, section three.) Joanne Avallon made the motion, seconded by Helga
Senko, to accept the minutes as amended. Motion passed.
Public Presentation

Committee Reports
Personnel: Helga Senko would like to schedule a meeting to review the Director’s evaluation.
Personnel committee will meet Wednesday, May 8 at 3:15 P.M.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) Budget: The Mayor had a department head meeting to discuss the budget. The Mayor has
requested a level funded budget. 2) Farms Library Project: Tom Scully met with the Mayor and
the finance director to discuss the Farms Library possible cost overruns. The sub-trade bids were
opened Thursday, April 18. The final bid opening will be May 2, 2002. 3) Library Events: Adult
Poetry Reading was held on April 8, Young Adult Poetry Contest will be held on April 25,
History Project was presented by Beverly High School students, Friendly Garden Club did a
presentation for the Friends Annual Meeting, the Friendly Garden Club donated their old
membership and meeting books to the Library. 4) Skateboarders: There was a discussion of
skateboarders destroying library property and gardens.

New Business
1) Sunshine Fund: Trustees contributed $20.00 per person to the sunshine fund. 2) Book Sale:
Sign up sheet for the book sale was passed around. 3) Todd Balf volunteered to help out with
Beverly Reads.
The next regular meeting of the Board will be Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at the Main
Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.
