White Board members absent: Others present: Albert Ricci, City Solicitor; Vada Komich, Kathleen M. Henrichon, Frances J. McCarthy, League of Women Voters; Howard Calish, Laura Reilly, Jill Backstrom, Margaret Haydon, Friends of the Beverly Public Library Recorder: Conrile E. Dooling Special Meeting Board of Trustees-Beverly Public Library January 5, 1984 7:30 p.m. Present: Richard Buckley, Connie Dooling, Kay Fanning, Neil Olson, Lester Ayers, Kevin Murphy, Nancy White and Roger Morency. Also Present: Mr. Albert Ricci, City Solicitor; Esther Calish, Library Director; Friends of the Library: Susan Salt, Howard Calish, Laura Reilly, Jill Backstrom; League of Women Voters: Vada Komich, Kathy Henrichon, Fran McCarthy, Margaret Haydon; Andrea Arkins, Beverly Times. The open meeting was called to order by Chairman Buckley. Mr. Albert Ricci, City Solicitor was present and the reason for his presence was explained. Mr. Ricei stated that a suit against the Board of Trustees had been filed by the attorney of Mrs. Esther Calish. According to the City Solicitor, Board Members had the privilege of calling an Executive Session for the purpose of discussion concerning the litigation of the suit. Mr. Morency moved that the Board go into Executive Session for the purpose of discussing the pending litigation. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Dooling. Each Member was then recorded on a roll call vote. Voting in favor of Executive Session: Richard Buckicy-Yes, Connie Dooling-Yes, Kay Fanning-Yes, Neil Olson-Yes, Lester Ayers-Yes, Kevin Murphy-Yes, Roger Morency-Yes. One dissenting vote was cast: Nancy White-No. Seven Trustees voted in favor of Executive Session and one voted against. The motion earfled and members went into Executive Session. The open meeting was resumed following conclusion of the Executive Session. Chairman BuckIcy told people in the audience that the Board Members had turned the matter of the pending law suit over to the City Solicitor. Mr. Ricci will represent Board Members in court and he advised Members to make no comments regarding the situation. Mr. Buckley then mentioned the Glidden Trust, which Mr. Ricci had presented, and turned it over to the Finance Committee. The following business took place: Mrs. Fanning, Chairman of the Administration Committee, announced that a subcommittee meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Calish stated that she would post the notice. The Regular Meeting of the Board of Trustees will take place on Tuesday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Ayers moved to adjourn. Mrs. Fanning seconded the, motion. Meeting was adjourned. Nancy S.
