Beverly March 19th 1892
The Trustees met this evening for organzation it being the first meeting after the election of Town
Officers etc. Present Messrs. Giddings, Dodge, Galloupe, Mr. Tuck whose term had expired re-
elected for three (3) years and Mr. Leach a newly elected member (for 3 years) in place of Mr.
Addison were also present. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Giddings, the secretary then read
the records of the last meeting which being approved the business oforganzation was then proceeded
with.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe, it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for President and Mr. Joseph D. Tuck was elected.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for Secretary and Charles L. Dodge was elected.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe, it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for Treasurer and Joseph D. Tuck was elected.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe, it was
Voted That the entire board constitute a committee for the purchase of books and that three (3)
members be a sufficient number to accept.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That Messrs. Galloupe & Leach constitute the room committee. Mr. Giddings was added to
the committee.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for Librarian and Miss Manha P. Smith was unanimously elected.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That the subject of the Librarian's salary be laid upon the table pending action by the Town
in relation to establishing branches at North Beverly and Centerville and keeping the library
each day and evening.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That the subject of assistants be also laid upon the table for the same reason as stated in the
preceding motion.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That the secretary notify the Town Clerk of the election of a treasurer.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That we proceed to a choice of a committee to confer with one chosen at Beverly Farms with
reference to making some arrangemenst regarding the library there. Messrs. Galloupe and
Tuck were elected at that committee.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe, it was Voted that the secretary notify Mr. James B. Dow of the
action of the Trustees.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe, it was
Voted That Messrs. Little and Brown & Co. of Boston be as far as practicable the purchasing agent
for books.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe, it was
Voted That the privileges of the Library be extended to the Rev. Mr. Addison and that he be allowed
to retain his key.
On motion of Mr. Galloupe it was
Voted That rubber tips be purchased for the chain in the reading room and that this be referred to the
room committee.
There being no further business the meeting was adjourned.
