Beverly March 18th 1893
The Trustees of the Public Library met this evening to perfect their organization for the ensuing year
two members' terms having expired Mr. George W. Galloupe and Charles L. Dodge they having been
elected for two years.
Rev. Ellcry C. Butler was elected in place of Mr. Galloupe he having declined to be a
candidate for election.
Charles L. Dodge. was re-elected for three years.
The meeting was called to order by the chairman Mr. Tuck.
Messrs. Giddings, Leach, Butler and Dodge present.
On motion of Mr. Giddings it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for the offices first of President and Joseph D. Tuck, Esq. was
unanimously elected.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for Treasurer and Mr. Franklin Leach was unanimously elected.
On motion of Mr. Giddings it was
Voted that we proceed to ballot for secretary and Charles L. Dodge was unanimously elected.
The following gentlemen were elected for room committee.
Ellery C. Butler, Edward L. Giddings and Geo. E. Woodberry.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That we proceed to ballot for Librarian and Miss Martha P. Smith was unanimously elected.
Voted That the subject of salaries be postponed till the next meeting the last Saturday in the
month.
On motion of Mr. Giddings, it was
Voted That the entire board constitute a committee for the purchase of books, and that three
members be a sufficient number to accept or reject.
Voted That secretary notify the Town Clerk of the choice of a Treasurer (Mr. Leach)
On motion of Mr. Dodge, it was
Voted That we hold a meeting next Thursday evening to confer with the committee from Beverly
Farms to act with the Trustees which was appointed at the Annual Town Meeting for the
purpose of considering the question of a special appropriation for the Beverly Farms Branch
and that the secretary be requested to notify them of the same.
On motion of Mr. Dodge, it was
Voted That Mr. George A. Galloupe be allowed to retain his key and that the same privileges of the
library be extended him in the use of the library as to former members.
Voted That we now adjourn.
