Conrad, Russell P. Brown, Saul J. Cagan, Dorothy C. Cook, Frank P. Hyde, Bruce Lancaster, Carolyn F. StandIcy, and Thomas J. Tooracy Board members absent: Frederick H. Pierce Others present: Recorder: Marion A. Brown Wednesday April 20 4 P.M. at the Library The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on the above date. changed because o fMrs. Conrad's request. Those in attendance were Mrs. Conrad Presiding, Miss Standley Mrs Cook, Mr. Cogan, Mr. Lancaster Mr. Hyde, Toomey and Mr. Brown. The records were read and approved and after study of the Finance Sheets they, also, were approved. It was explained that after Mrs. Conrad and Mr. Toomey had talked with the Mayor concerning the bookmobile appropriation some mount of money would be forthcoming. For Administration Mr. Tooracy reported that he would obtain figures for the Farms Library new door. The reports of the Circulation Committee and the Librarian were approved as read and placed on file. Mr. Toomey reported that when the time came Alderman Scotti would like to be the one to sponsor in the City Government, the new Youth Library. Also reported that $954 was appropriated for Mrs. Alice Pratt to fill in during the illness of Mrs. Florence Hall, which will be until August 19th. Upon Mr. Freyman's request for 3 weeks vacation it was leR for a new policy that is to be established. A motion was made by Miss Standley and SO VOTED: "That the Chairman of the Library Trustees appoint a Committee of three members to examine the present policy of the Board in regard to the vacation schedule of Library Personnel; and report back to the Board at its next regular meeting the recommendations of the committee for action." Appointed by the Chairman were Mr. Lancaster, Ch., Mr. Brown and Mr. Hyde. It was suggested that a meeting should be held early in May, bringing out length of service to City, personal time, when vacations are to be taken during the year, and vacation for part time assistants. The question of good public relations was brought up by Miss StandIcy. Some suggestions were to have better feeling within the community, good cornacts with the Aldermen and the Mayor, also under consideration was "Friends of the Library", which has been established in many libraries Trustees have found that this group may substantially support the library's program and stimulate bequests, etc. This idea could he brought out in the By-laws.
