The meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on the above date at 7:30 Present were
Mrs. Conrad, presiding Mrs. Cook, Miss StandIcy, Mr. Hyde, Mr. Pierce Mr. Lancaster and Mr.
Tooracy.
Before the start of the meeting an International Metro-mite truck was on display from
Loring Motors in Salem with the possibility of it being made adaptable for a bookmobile. After
discussion Mr. Tooracy with Mr. Pierce and Mr. Hyde will seek all information for the June 18th
meeting
The records of the previous meeting and the Finance reports were approved as read.
There was a long discussion of the school situation in connection with the incoming
students in the Junior High Schools. Some felt that a meeting with the School Committee would
prove of value. The Libra explained that a meeting had already been arranged with the Junior
High Principals and Mrs. Gibbs and Miss Munroe to discuss what beneficial changes could be
made.
For admims'tration Mrs. Conrad reported that dead elm at Beverly Farms should be
removed and the hedge at the Farms needs to be filled in as some of the hedge at the Main Library,
also. The flag pole should have attention Mr. Tooracy explained it had been condemned and he
will attend to it.
Because of needed book space in the Children's Room, Mrs. Conrad explained that she bad
prices of $400 for one unit and this could make a start, the cost to come from Trust Funds. It was
suggested that the Trade School might cooperate. Mr. Hyde and Mr. Tooracy will investigate.
The report of the Circulation Committee was accepted as was the report of the Librarian.
These were placed on file.
A long discussion was held of what books should be added to the collection because of
demand. It was lea to be put in the set of Rules that are being prepared.
There was a discussion of Endicott Junior College making a $5.00 yearly deposit and also
what charges should he made for non-residents. This matter also could be put in the Rules.
Voted that two delegates attend the M..L.A. meeting in Lenox June 11-12.
Voted the Jaycee-ettes the use of Library Hail the 3d Thursday of every month for their
Mr. Lancaster prepared a chart showing the graphic representation of the circulation
figures, etc. All thought this an excellent idea to continue throughout the year.
