1998-11-19Minutes of Meeting
Board of Assessors
Meeting opened at 5:30 PM with assessors Peter Caron, chairman, and J~ :l~dh'h~an~sqCvehh
as assistant assessor Thomas Acciavatti present. Voted Peter Caron as acting secretary in the
absence of Robert Marshall.
Met with Atty. Thomas Fallon, representing West Beach, regarding the property's exempt
status for FY1999. The Board advised Mr. Fallon that in order to comply with the filing
requirements of clause third, West Beach had to produce either a form PC filing for FY1999,
to be appended to its 3ABC filing, or to produce a lega! opinion from the Department of
Revenue indicating that West Beach was among the classes of organizations not required to
comply with the form PC filing requirement. Mr. Fallon indicated his concern that West
Beach was being singled out for such action. Mr. Caron made a motion that the Board review
the statutory filings of all exempt organizations for FY1999, and advise any and all
organizations whose filings were incomplete that they are not in compliance with the statute
and to direct them to comply forthwith. Furthermore, if any organization were found to have
failed .to properly and timely respond to said communication by fully completing their
statutory filing requirements, said organization was to be 'taxed by the Board for FY1999 no
later than the June 20, 1999, deadline for committing omitted assessments to the collector. The
Board voted to approve Mr. Caron's motion.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30 PM.
