Minutes of April 4, 2002
PRESENT: J. Frates, D. Neuman, C. Raymond, M. Troubetaris, J. Murray,
R. Badessa, S. Menezes, A. Wheelock, T. Birner
GUESTS: R. Oosthoek of the Chamber of Commerce, & S. Houseman
J. Frates opened the meeting and introduced the new members again.
A Motion to accept the Minutes of the last meeting was made by R. Badessa, and
seconded by C. Raymond. All accepted.
Public Input: Dom Secondiani came to the meeting to express his interest in renting the
McDonald's building. It needs to be done quickly. He would keep it clean and neat. It
would he a family style restaurant. His son owns a restaurant presently.
D. Neuman asked what the duration would be.
His son says that he understands that it is not for long
D. Neuman explained the restrictions on the grant. He would like to try it for one year.
The party will talk to Lou to see the inside of the building.
R. Oosthoek asked what is the input process for the Harbor Master Plan.
D. Neuman stated that it is not completed yet.
R. Oosthoek stated that there were names sent to the Mayor for appointment to the
Authority. So far, no response.
J. Frates says that he talked to the Mayor. He is working on this and will bet back to the
Authority.
J. Frates met with the Mayor about Port Marina. Judge came to Port Marina and also
DEP. They spent approximately 1½ hrs. The Judge will make a decision.
D. Neuman stated that there were to he discussions between DEP & Port. The Judge is
not changing the trial date. It is in July.
S. Houseman asked if Port has raised the liability issue. He stated that liability is
removed from them
D. Neuman stated that we are 85 to 90% through the process.
D. Neuman stated that he is trying to track down any grant money.
He has been calling Vine Associates about every 2 weeks. They are almost complete.
R. Badessa handed out another source of money. D. Neuman will work on writing.
R. Badessa handed out the Budget Report.
There was much discussion on the Ventron property.
The McDonald building: D. Neuman stated that it is very important to all to agree on
what to do. M. Troubetaris said that before we decide to tear it down, we should have a
plan and estimated cost.
M Troubetaris made a motion to proceed with RFP on McDonald's long term lease in
return for having it developed according to Fort Point Plan. R. Badessa seconded. All in
favor.
C. Raymond stated that at the Coastal Access meeting, F. Kinzie spoke on promoting the
Marina.
