2002-11-19Beverly Cultural Council Meeting
November 19, 2002
Beverly Public Library
Present: Jan Plourde, Rachel Pohl, Doreen Ushakoff, and Brad Waldron
The meeting of the Beverly Cultural Council opened at 7:00 pm on Tuesday November 19, 2002
at the Beverly Public Library. The main purpose of the meeting was to consider LLC Grant
Applications.
Jan Plourde suggested we consider among other things, the number of people in the audience for
the proposed event, whether the event will run with or without our money, and whether the
audience gets enough programming.
It appears that we have about $21,000 left over from previous years in addition to about $7000 in
new money this year.
Total LLC requests are $21,146, not including PASS grant applications. ·
We need to consider other costs such as bookkeeping, post office box, and postage before
finalizing awards.
It was suggested that we have a booth in the Beverly Arts Festival in June 2003. It would give us
an opportunity to get community feedback and to let more people know about the Cultural
Council.
Rachel offered to check out other possible sorces of funding, such as the foundations mentioned
in application L12.
In considering the grant applications, we need to know if we can be the only source of funding
for an application, how much the PASS grant applications amount to, and how much we want to
hold over for next year.
We went through the applications and tentatively awarded $11,755. Please see the attached list.
Brad will contact John Rockwell to get more information about his application (LS).
The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm. The next meeting will be Monday November 25 at 7:00
pm at the Beverly Public Library.
